Of Feet and Mouths...
Vis-a-vis the recent brouhaha about Governor Sanford of South Carolina and his infidelities and travel habits (More on this later), it was reported, by various sources, that one Senator John Kerry (Moron-Massachusetts) is said to have lamented that it was, indeed, unfortunate that Governor Sarah Palin wasn't the one who left the country.
We're told that the good Senator was just having a jest at the Governor's expense. He meant no harm, 'twas but a jolly good ribbing, and all that, and besides, Chris Matthews found it hysterical (one can assume).
Of course, no one ever accused Sen. Kerry of having either class or intelligence. He makes this joke just a few weeks after Mrs. Palin and her daughters are slandered on the David Letterman show, and after months of democratic 'reporters' and 'bloggers' and 'operatives' and 'concerned citizens' prying into every aspect of the Palin's lives, from who is Trig's real mother to seeking the governor's, and her eldest daughters, gynecological records. They've been taking crap, especially from various vicious precincts on the left (you know, the side of the political spectrum that defends the rights of women so vociferously and diligently?), for a year already. You'd think a gentleman would let up. You'd think a gentleman who fancies himself respectable wouldn't pile on. You'd think someone who knows what it is to have his life examined in minute detail, and who also lost an election, might be somewhat more circumspect.
But John Kerry thinks he's above all that stuff, and is entitled to make jokes at other people's expense. Particularly if that person just happens to be 'on the other side'. Common courtesy and decency (you know, the kind he would most assuredly ask for himself) are out the window. So, not that the governor needs me to defend her, but allow me my shot at the good Senator. All in good fun, you know.
John Kerry is a pompous ass, who's only talent is for marrying the publicly-alcoholic widows of wealthier men (I just know from having seen it on TV, that Ter-ay-ZUH was giving a speech while hammered on the campaign trail at least once. In today's world of journalism, this constitutes 'proof'). If Sen Kerry wants to do something about it, I'll meet him in the dark alley of his choice. But because he's a gutless coward, he'll probably sic a lawyer on me, or use his office to prevent me from getting a government job. That's how punk-ass turds like him operate, isn't it?
And I'd be overjoyed if he left the country, but no one will grant him a visa on the grounds that dreary old dolts who look like Droopy Dog and who selected an even bigger slug (John Edwards) as a running mate are considered liable to lower the national IQ and pollute the atmosphere with smugness and pomposity.
So, I give a great big middle finger to John Kerry; a man so mediocre, he couldn't even beat the swaggering cowboy with no command of the English language! How does it feel to know that you lost to such a man? One that your side was quite convinced, and insistent, was a drooling dunce?
One who will go down in history as one of the greatest liberators of men. God will bless G.W. Bush; the world will soon forget John Kerry.
If I had your record, Senator Buttwipe, I'd shut the fuck up.
Insanity is not a disease; it's a defense mechanism. The opinions expressed here are disturbing and often disgusting to those with no sense of humor. I make no apologies for them, either. Contact the Lunatic at Excelsior502@gmail.com.

On Hiatus...
Yes, yes...I know! I haven't been venting my spleen here recently. I have an excuse...well, several, really. And besides, the three people who read this with any regularity really should be able to find ways to entertain yourselves.
If you must know, I've been looking for work...again. And goofing off. Actually, I'm torn. It's Obama's fault. I mean, I could get a job, but then anything I make will be confiscated to pay for Cialis for the elderly and to ensure that every Autoworkers has an upholstered seat in the Men's loo, and I'll still be the scum of the earth, me being a heterosexual, law-abiding, Christian, English-speaking white male and all. So the theft won't even be appreciated by the actual scum who will benefit from it. If I can't even get gratitude out of the deal, then why bother?
On the other hand, hitting the dole seems to have it's advantages. President Obambi will take care of me. He'll pay my bills, make sure I have roof over my head, and pay for my triple bypass (I don't need one, but I might as well get one before they start rationing them out. Best to get in line now). At least until the printing presses at the Mint run out of ink.
Hmm, maybe the best course of action is to work for canned goods and ammunition, and then head for the hills like Grizzly Adams. It would certainly be poetic, more genuinely American (in that it would be a contrived sort of lifestyle that would get 15 minutes on Good Morning America, just before the YesWeCan Stormtroopers have me arrested for defiling Mother Nature by daring to breathe in the woods).
Anyway, if anyone is interested, I have applied for several government jobs --if anyone says "what about the Private Sector?" I will remind them that there is no such thing anymore when the gov't owns 80% of AIG, 40% of Citibank and all of GM. The one I particularly want (I can only hope and pray!) is to be the guy at any future Ministry of Obamacare (which will concern itself with death, naturally) who gets to decide if a specific patient gets a specific course of expensive care.
I would wield my rubber stamp with solemn responsibility, bearing in mind that both lives and billions of taxpayer dollars are at risk. I would carefully sift the paperwork and if I found a sick Baby Boomer, SLAM! I'd stamp "Rejected" across that request form so fast, even if it was just a friggin' hangnail, your head would spin (just don't put in any claims to see a chiropractor after that happens). If you're under 60 and need two kidneys, a colon and a nuclear-powered iron lung -- you're golden so far as I'm concerned. You'll still lead a much more productive and useful life than the Woodstock Generation ever did.
I already know I've 'passed the test' for a particular job (they called me and told me, but won't tell me my grade; that's so I can't sue when a lower-scoring minority or woman gets a job before I do), but I took it in January and was notified in March. I still haven't received any call about actual work.
But when I get it, gentle reader, be assured that someone will now be inside the belly of the beast who has every intention of letting people know just who is in the bureaucracy and what they're doing. Because at the end of the day, President Hopenchanger doesn't run the Government, neither does that horses ass, Nancy Pelosi, and for sure it isn't any elected hack....anywhere. You know who runs the government? The Bureaucrats. And I'm going to join their ranks (to do the right thing).
Be afraid...be very afraid.

Investigate THIS (With accompanying rude gesture to my Nether-regions to illustrate the point)...
There's going to be a "Task Force" to investigate the financial crisis, it's causes, it's mechanisms and the people who made it happen? You don't say! Well, might I make a suggestion?
I'll bet you the answers you get to any investigation will involve all of the following:
1. Greed
2. Stupidity
3. Ethical lapses
4. At least one Act of Congress
Because you see, all four elements are usually at the bottom of every catastrophe in American life. The unfortunate part is that you can't do anything about 1 through 3 because human nature being what it is, those issues don't lend themselves to easy solutions. However, the biggest, the real problem, is 4 and it already has a built-in solution -- it's called an election. We have one coming up (not soon enough), so let's make certain it does what it's intended to do and brings a (major) part of the solution to our current problems with it-- by getting rid of the politicians who set this in motion with their Greed, Stupidity, Ethical lapses, and the laws they've passed!
So, let's save a bundle of taxpayer money and focus the investigation on the mechanisms of the financial problems, and not look for scapegoats to absolve Congress of it's complicity in this disaster (that's why Congresscritters hold investigations, btw). We already know what is wrong, the only thing we need to know now is the how. If in the course of finding a how, we get to a who, then by all means, stand the (most-likely a Congresscritter) bastard before a firing squad.
Start the disinfecting process in the 2010 mid-term elections with Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, Chuckie Schumer, Nancy Pelosi and Charles Rangel, and then let's work our way up the food chain from there. Their absence from government would simply be addition by subtraction. I'm certain that with the removal of these weak links, we can forge a stronger chain.

The Scales have Fallen From Their Eyes, Part II...
Seems like piling on, but the word has to be spread, somehow. Here's some more folks who knew that HopeAndChangeWeCanBelieveIn was never anything more than a flabby bromide, and who would like to revel in "I Told You So." Except for the Washington Examiner, which is actually doing some actual reporting on an impending meltdown, here.
They're a few weeks to late; the meltdown done happened.
The incredibly talented Mark Steyn weighs in here and here about Ol' YesWeCan's foibles and stumbles.
The Philadelphia Bulletin's Herb Denenberg (definitely added to my list now!), takes Obama apart at the joints here.

Reason #2506 Why Your President is an Asshole...Smart Diplomacy.
This was supposed to be the administration which was going to restore and strengthen America's old alliances. It was going to extend the hand of friendship to old adversaries, and make America liked and respected around the world again. The Adults, we were assured, would be back in charge of foreign policy, armed with a new brand of "smart diplomacy".
Guess not.
In the 60 days that Obambi has been in office he has:
* Given an interview on Arab television which was widely panned, and denounced as a sign of weakness.
*Basically told Moscow we won't build a missile defense system, giving Russia the green-light to bully Eastern Europe, and taking away any incentive they may have had for helping us prevent Iran from getting nuclear weapons.
* Told Israel to basically go fuck itself by committing $1 billion American dollars (that we could use here, because the guys at Citigroup didn't get their bonuses yet) to help rebuild the Palestinian territories destroyed by Israel in the latest skirmish. A skirmish caused by the Palestinian hobbies of lobbing explosive rockets and mortar shells into Israeli settlements, and walking into crowded areas, like shopping malls or public transport, while wearing TNT boxer shorts for the express purpose of blowing themselves up.
* Sent a YouTube Message to the people of Iran, which the Mullahs and the kook they call president responded to with derision, and a promise to complete building a nuclear reactor (which may produce fissile material) by the end of the year. Not only that, but he offers a holiday greeting in Farsi (I guess so he can look cool, and you know, relate to the ragheads), forgetting that there's a tin-foil-hat wearing minority in this country who believes he's really a Muslim Manchurian Candidate, and who will say that proves it!
* Insulted the British Prime Minister and people by treating him in a most disrespectful fashion, denying him even the most basic amenities that a visiting head of state has come to expect from a visit with the President, sending back a gift which was given to us at a time when the British wished to express unity with the American people, and then sent Gordon Brown home with extremely cheap and thoughtless gifts which the man can't even use.
* Sent the Secretary of State to China to beg for continued financing of the US National Debt, while all-but-signalling an American willingness to forget all about human rights issues. The Chinese government (the Communist Chinese government!) responded by lecturing the President on economics and capitalism. Not long afterwards, Chinese boats started messing with unarmed US Naval vessels in international waters, letting Joe Biden know that he was right; Not only will the world test this douche bag, they intend to feed him a steady diet of wedgies, Wet Willies and Noogies, knowing he won't and can't do a damned thing about them.
* The Secretary of State shows up in Moscow with a gag-gift which is not only completely puerile and unfunny, but which contains a misspelling so egregious that it begins to look like the there's not a single person in the State Department that speaks Russian anymore. I could have Googled the Russian word for "Reset" better!
That's just to start. Now we have this:
Obama Upsets Sarkozy With Letter to Jacques Chirac. (H/T to Gatewaypundit.)
Apparently, not only is there a dearth of Russian speakers-an'-Googlers in the State Department, but they can't even tell Ol' President YesWeCan who the President of France is! You know, France? Our oldest ally. I'm telling you, the level of incompetence in this administration is appalling, and the excuse that it's only 60 days in, doesn't wash; we're talking about matters of common sense and detail here. The results to date do not point to a restoration or strengthening of America's alliances, nor does it bode well for peace in the world.
This Dude is in waaaaaaay over his head.

Are We 'Depressed' or 'Depressed'?
Professor Hanson weighs in here, noting that just about everyone these days seems extremely depressed. As well we should be; our government, at all levels, is being run by chimpanzees (go ahead and sue me or accuse me of racism. Screw political correctness -- I'm one of the depressed-and-extremely-pissed-off folks the Prof. is talking about!). Wait, that's too generous. Chimpanzees are smarter than Obama, Pelosi, Reid, Rangel, Dodd, Frank, Kerry, Schumer, Clinton, Waters, Waxman, et. al., and by comparison, paragons of civilized and virtuous behavior. Even if chimps do throw feces at one another.
At least when a chimp throws a turd at another chimp, it's genuine crap. Not the manufactured kind like Congress turns out over bonuses to bailed out company execs that they knew about for several months and engineered legislation in order to protect, but which can no longer be defended since it's a political liability.
Anyways, while the Prof is right, I also like this take on things from Powerline.

The Scales Have Fallen From Their Eyes...
Pity the lefty press. Their adulation for The Won, their schoolgirl-pantycream-puppylove-crush, is now officially over. Barring some miracle, President HopeandChangeYouCanBelieveIn has been revealed as the Emperor without Clothes. The Press which did such a wonderful job in the election of covering for this man, have now discovered that they simply cannot continue to provide the same level of camouflage as they did before.
It's too obvious: he doesn't know what he's doing. He's in over his head. He relies too much on people who have 'been-there-done-that', only those people don't know what they're doing, either. It's the Presidency of Whine; "I inherited this...", "Everyone's a critic...". Reduced to trying to be self-deprecating, but failing terribly because it stumbles over it's own political correctness and poor taste, vis-a-vis the Special Olympics 'joke' on Leno. The best summing-up of this phenomenon I've heard to date, is a joke; even Jesus could build a cabinet. Remember that kerfuffle in the campaign between Obama and Sarah Palin, about lipstick and pigs? The analogy was apt: Barack Obama is Jimmy Carter in fresh lipstick.
The Press Corp rats are now abandoning the S.S. YesWeCan. Below is a round-up of some of the most prominent lefty...ahem...journalists who are amongst the first overboard. You just know you're a dead man walking as a leftist hack when both Frank Rich and Paul Krugman abandon you, and one of them refers to your last week in office as your 'Katrina Moment'.
America, get used to the fact that the man who inhabits the White House now is officially a caretaker. He's politically dead, and the burial is just a matter of time. He can talk all he wants, he can pontificate, he can drag his teleprompter from coast-to-coast, but it will avail him nothing. He has become, far from the symbol of American unity and promise that he was back in January, a very bad and painful joke.
The New York Times premier lefty snobs, Rich and Krugman. The Newser's Michael Wolff takes the O-Man apart in that terribly condescending tone lefties adopt when speaking to the peasantry. The New York Post openly mocks the Prez and his inability to speak contemporaneously (wasn't that something the left used to crucify GWB for?)
UPDATE: More from the NY Post on Obambi's Worst Week Ever, here.

Why We Need Firing Squads...
Yet another example of simply barbaric people pretending to be parents. I can't stand to see children suffer, and it breaks my heart when every day we can open a newspaper or turn on the television and cannot escape a story of this kind. What makes this even more sickening is that for every case we hear about, you know there's hundreds or thousands more that never see the light of day.
These are not parents. These are people who simply made children, who they then won't take responsibility for, or show even a modicum of love to. They are sick and the sooner the gene pool is rid of such human waste, the quicker the human race will improve. This couple has four other children, according to the story, who should be taken from them immediately, ever mind the legal niceties.
I want the automatic death penalty for people like this, in the public square. I want the very worst the human mind can conjure up to be done to these people, and to everyone else who abuses or neglects children.
Start with these parents, and then go after Octo-Mom.

Pity Meghan McCain...
See this, from the New York Post. The column is, of course, pure farce, but judging from 90% of the responses to it, you'd never know. Those folks took it far too seriously, which is a defect all liberals have; they haven't got a sense of humor.
Then there is the picture of Ms. McCain, which I assume, was the inspiration for the whole thing.
You see, in the last few months, Ms. McCain has bemoaned the fact that her father's association with such rabid conservatives like Ann Coulter and Rush Limbaugh (as if John McCain can be considered a conservative!) has cramped her style. In her blog (which I can't be bothered to link to) and in recent interviews, Ms. McCain has complained that politics has ruined her social life. All the really cute guys lose interest in her because of politics. Either they just want to meet her father, or she has to endure hours of "how can you associate with Ann Coulter?" lectures, and it's very annoying. She's said so. Repeatedly. Only now, she stands to make a living for it, writing for whatever online rag Tina Brown is publishing these days (I can't be bothered to link to that, either).
She's making her displeasure known by criticizing said conservatives, and denouncing them. Just to make certain you get the message that she's rebelling, she'll tell you that gay marriage is all cool an' stuff, and that Obama is The Bomb. Publicly.
That's her right, I guess. But the underlying reason she does this is not any actual political belief of principle; she does it so that she'll seem cool and all that much more attractive to the social set she seeks entry to.
I don't always agree with Coulter and Rush, either, but the truth is they're often right. Conservatives, on the whole, are right. They have 10,000 years of history on their side. Where I split from them is on the idea that all of our moral and societal ills can be cured by a government-sponsored imposition of a Calvinist brand of Christianity which went out of fashion in about 1650 or so. Social ills are cured at home, with strong parents and families, not by the government. Let the churches do their work where they do it best: in church. Morality will never be legislated (despite all the morality laws on the books and the convictions and punishments for offenses, immoral behavior still occurs), and this is where the Republican party makes it's mistake; it allies itself with people who believe it IS the government's job to install and enforce Christian morals, values and ethics.
But at the end of the day, while I can certainly understand Meghan McCain's angst -- why, when I was younger, girls wouldn't talk to me because I had pimples, or I couldn't get with the in-crowd because I didn't wear Capezios and skinny leather ties, or hung around with some geeky people -- this is basically what her argument amounts to), I eventually found my own groove.
My advice to Miss McCain; if you need to change or compromise to gain the acceptance of people who find you or your associations unfathomable based on some shallow criteria, perhaps they aren't the sort of people you need to be hanging out with in the first place. In the meantime, you're only embarrassing yourself.

Global Warming: Still Crap!
So says this from the American Thinker.
While I don't believe that the bubble of anthropogenic global warming (AGW) needed to be needled (the evidence against it is so overwhelming), apparently some are not as clear-headed about it.
Ultimately, Mankind is doomed. If we don't kill each other off in a nuclear holocaust, the Sun will eventually go Supernova and burn the planet to a cinder. If that doesn't happen, we'll get hit by a comet or asteroid, or some still-evolving germs, viruses or microbes will defeat both our natural defenses and scientific know-how. The Earth's magnetic poles will shift, the continents will drift apart unleashing geologic disaster, or invaders from another galaxy will decide we make yummy snacks. As it stands, scientists know the Moon is drifting away from us at something like 4 cm. a year, which would unleash hell. Doesn't matter: Earth, and all life on it, is ultimately doomed. That is just the nature of both the planet we live on, and the universe in which we live.
There is no saving the planet, which is beyond our power, and there is no saving mankind barring scientific advances that would have to include relatively cheap and easy interplanetary and interstellar travel, which despite Star Trek, is not necessarily within reach at the present. And even then, mankind would be subject to the same forces which threaten this planet and species on any other planet.
In the end, the Global Warming alarmists cannot achieve their stated goal; saving the planet. The issue of whether they can save mankind is still an open question, and in any case, is more involved than just studying the weather in the hopes of changing it. If we consider that the people who advocate the position that the Earth is warming and that in understanding the why and how in order to change it are just as smart as I am, and can apply logic in the same way, then they must also know that they can't 'save' anything. The power to do so is beyond the ability of man, and is presently reserved for the realm of science fiction and religion. Therefore, the stated goal cannot be the actual goal.
The few people I know who believe in AGW all happen to have the same traits. They don't all have the complete gamut of traits, but they share a great many of them. If you listen to them with a critical ear, you begin to find some common threads:
1. They hate human beings - Mostly the crowd who joins PETA, or who shows an unusual empathy for animals, attributing to them human characteristics, or who regard animals as being more noble than man. Their issue is with humanity; they don't understand or comprehend some of the more vile human habits and conventions (war, inhumanity to our fellow men, political discord, and so forth), and so they have arrived at the subconscious solution of wanting us all to be dead so that we'll be less inconvenient to them, or if they arrive at the idea that a dead human race means they can't get a latte at Starbucks when they want one, at least forcing us (through government) to modify our behavior to suit them. They can't stand their fellow man on one level or another, and feel that they are superior enough that they have the right to demand that the rest of mankind conform to their ideas and conventions. Barring willing submission and co-operation to with their 'enlightened' views, we need to be brought to heel by our 'betters' thorough regulation, taxation or force.
2. They hate particular human activities/practices - there's some activity that bothers them on some level. Conspicuous consumption, the practice of organized and established religion, political activity in direct opposition to their personal preferences, are all things that get their dander up. If you drive an ostentatious SUV -- you're an evil polluter. If you own a swimming pool -- you're an evil waster of precious water. If you deny their superiority, or haven't recognized how much they 'care' about polar bears and rising sea levels -- you're an evil polluter. You must be destroyed if you cannot be transformed or brainwashed. They are unable to make the great mental and emotional commitment to "live and let live", because to do so would rob them of the feelings of intellectual and emotional superiority they have bestowed upon themselves.
3. Politics - the great scam of AGW is that if the plans of the Global Warming Set were ever implemented (Kyoto Accords, Cap-and-trade policies, etc) the net effect would be a transfer of wealth from Western nations, the productive ones, to the non-productive ones. That transfer is not affected by outright theft -- robbing Britain to pay Belize would never fly-- but by arresting industrial and scientific progress in the West to allow the rest of the world "to catch up". It's why the largest populations/nations in the world (like India, Indonesia, Sub-Saharan Africa and China) are often exempted from things like the Kyoto Treaty, and why places like the U.S., Japan, and Europe are expected to toe the mark religiously. And to pay for it all. The industrialized world is supposed to expend it's resources in order to provide technology which it ultimately cannot sell (it would be too expensive for anyone to buy), and therefore, would have to be given away, in the name of brotherhood. These policies are really intended to level the economic playing field by arresting progress and taking scarce resources from one front, and shifting them to another -- without recompense or reciprocation -- and will therefore produce an effective system of World-wide Socialism without the need for violent revolution, or without having to lay the intellectual groundwork necessary for it. Socialism would be effected under the guise of 'doing the right thing'. There would be no elections, no resolutions, it would just come into being, without anyone ever having to mention Socialism at all, or without uncovering a world-wide conspiracy which drives it. Science is being co-opted in the name of politics. The idea that this or that would 'save the planet', or 'heal' Mother Earth is just an illusion; it's supposed to make the gullible think that in sacrificing their own personal economic and political well-being that they are achieving some higher, and more laudable goal beyond selfish self-interest. And, of course, it'll all be controlled by some altruistic mechanism, like the U.N. or a cabal of the Enlightened (can you imagine Al Gore in charge of the planet?). All of the other great mind-fucks of history have operated along similar lines; Socialism, Communism, Fascism, Christianity, Islam, Scientology, the No-Nukes Movement, the ban on D.D.T., and so forth, have all used similar tactics: fear, envy, and a mushy Kumbaya-feel-goodism and trendy cachet. H.G. Wells and Aldous Huxley made fortunes pimping this sort of stuff, only they called it 'fiction', rather than a Master Plan. Al Gore wants to make it reality...and get rich and famous while he does it. It is, after all, all about them and their feelings of superiority.
4. Global Warming Ideology has taken the Place of Conventional Religion -for some (like me), religion is little more than the expression of an ignorant superstition. Man cannot explain the great questions which vex him (Why do bad things happen to good people? Where did we come from? What happens to us after we die?) and so invents gods, and saints, and spirits and so on, to try to explain them. Eventually, technological progress and scientific discovery disprove religion (then again, religion, like global warming, doesn't really need 'proof' of anything -- only faith, which is a willful surrender of critical faculties), or at least bring into focus logical contradictions which cannot be reconciled. There are some who need the psychological comfort and surety that religion provides, but who reject religion because it does not provide concrete proofs like science does. The logical conclusion is to mix and match the two. Turn science with it's logical methodology into your new religion, without the intellectually-embarrassing need to believe in invisible beings. Faith now gets transferred from the perceived-to-be-fantastical to the perceived-to-be-factual.
I can prove that the idea of human activity altering the planet in such a way as to endanger it is bullshit, at least from the standpoint of global warming on a planet-destroying scale. Geologists and other scientists tell me that the very spot I sit upon while I write this screed was once buried under an ice sheet several miles thick. They say this ice sheet has advanced and retreated, many times in the geologic past, without a single factory or internal-combustion engine spewing one molecule of carbon-dioxide into the atmosphere. That such naturally-occurring global events have been happening sans human activity, and will probably continue long after we and our technology are long gone, and they can point to geologic evidence. It's been proven that the Earth itself has undergone changes in geology, atmosphere and climate all by itself many, many times, again with irrefutable scientific evidence. It has also been postulated that it was possible 'pollution' caused by living things in the ancient past that made the world habitable for the whining pansies who cry about polar bears and SUV's --by pouring billions of tons of oxygen (and nitrogen, and water vapor, and yes, even CO2!) into the atmosphere by the processes of life itself. The science is there, all you have to do is look it up. But then again, if you did, you wouldn't believe in AGW, and these scientists would be out of a job, and the Revolution would never come to be. Certainly, the evidence, such as it is, can be debated, but the AGW brigade doesn't want debate; it wants compliance.
In the end, the arguments about AGW have nothing to do with science, and everything to do with the mindsets of two particular subsets of human beings; the insane and the insidious.
So says this from the American Thinker.
