What's Wrong With This Picture...?

* In the midst of an economic catastrophe, the news people report the dress that the First Lady wore to last night's state dinner, for the Indian Prime Minister, required the labor of 40 people to produce. Talk about poor taste? See the next item. These people are the rich that should be taxed within an inch of their lives, not us.

* Last month, 550,000 Americans applied for unemployment benefits, and this month, another 466,000. According to our so-called leaders, this is 'good news', as the 'numbers show a slowing down of job loss', with the implication that eventually this train will come to a stop and throw itself into reverse of it's own accord (Would that be Joe Biden's beloved Amtrak train?). Three million jobs have been lost since the Porkulus Bill was rammed through Congress.

* All those 'Shovel-ready' projects in that Porkulus Bill apparently paid for non-existent Shovel-Ready projects in non-existent Congressional Districts, only proving that your government is Shovel-Ready, as if you required more proof. This government couldn't organize a gang-bang in a whorehouse, and it would waste a third of it's budget there, too.

* The Secretary of State attends the Inauguration of a Head of State (Hamid Karzai) that the State Department has all but accused of rigging an election. The diplomatic gaffes in recent months (joke 'reset' buttons, bowing before foreign monarchs, sending mixed signals to foes and allies alike) show a policy that is unsettled, unguided, and unsupported by underlying logic. We are trying to fight a war without antagonizing our enemies...somehow. We don't call Terrorism what it is (because apparently, that's mean to terrorists), instead calling it 'man-made-disaster'; which pretty much sums up this Administration. The President has dithered over a request from more troops for Ashcanistan for the last three months, after his own hand-picked general has said getting those troops within the next year is critical to the success of his mission. The President delays the decision for political reasons, and then denies the reason is political, then makes a great show of deciding to decide a date specific by which to decide.

* The dollar is tanking on fears that the U.S. Government will spend money that doesn't exist in this galaxy, the American President is lectured (repeatedly) on free-market economics by the Communist Chinese, Congress is routinely tossing the word 'trillion' about as if it were no big thing, the price of gold has shot through the roof on fears of hyper-inflation, and the President of the United States and his Party are trying to decide the best way to socialize the American health care system, and who gets band-aids and eyedrops and who doesn't when 85% of the population a) has insurance and b) is happy with it.

* The Attorney General and President of the United States declare that terrorists captured on foreign battlegrounds are entitled to a jury trial, where they may examine the evidence gathered against them, expose the methods used to gain it, the names of the people who were involved, and use the platform provided to rail against the United States and spew Al'Qeada propaganda. The Attorney General goes before Congress and cannot cite legal precedent for this, but assures everyone that a conviction is a foregone conclusion, thus handing any defense attorney worth his salt the basis for an appeal. The following day, the President, former Constitutional Lawyer and Editor of the Harvard Law Review tells the press in a television interview that the terrorists will be convicted and get the death penalty, for sure, further poisoning the potential jury pool and giving them grounds for appeal before the trial even begins. One begins to get the idea that perhaps this has been the plan all along, to create a technicality that allows these guys to skate on 3,000 counts of murder -- while the intelligence gathered and the means used to gather it, are exposed to the world. To say this smacks of the political is to understate the tragedy by an exponential factor.

* Senator Charles "Schmuck" Schumer has to go before Congress to beg for $75 million more dollars of borrowed-or-extorted-from-the-taxpayer money for the City of New York to provide security during a trial that a) should not be taking place, b) we don't want, and c) don't need -- except for the President's stupidity and ideological blindness. This is not about trying terrorists and showing the world the amazing American criminal justice system; it's about putting GWB and Dick Cheney on trial in absentia.

* The President of the United States has given Air Force One a world-class workout for no apparent reason or gain, while Congress passes Cap-and-Trade bills that if enacted, would destroy the world economy. The President has almost spent as much time out of Washington as he has within it, the worst instance being a trip to Asia to avoid having to answer questions about putting terrorists on trial and getting his picture taken before the Great Wall.

* The President of the United States uses the words "I", "Me", "Mine", "I'm" and all other variations of the personal pronoun so often that you'd think he was the only person on earth, and performs Herculean tasks while everyone else sits on their asses and watches. The narcissism on display, the preening, the peacockery, the inability to admit mistakes, the inability to give forthright answers to simple questions, the cluelessness, the aura of infallibility that surrounds the Anointed One (a facade maintained almost entirely by the Press and the White House Bubble team) are exactly some of the same sorts of behaviors George W. Bush was criticized for over an 8 year term. The difference is that Obama will never be called on it because he's a) black and b) a liberal, and the Press is still in orgasmic bliss over his 'historic' election. That they are also witnessing his historic downfall in full-view and slow-motion eludes them because anyone who bought the Obama Aura in the first place obviously had no brain. The Free Press is finally dead, a necessary pillar of a free society, and it doesn't seem to care.

* The Idea that Obama actually works on anything is belied by the amount of travel he does for no apparent reason or gain, and the fact that all the major pieces of legislation and policy initiatives of his short reign have come from the fertile imaginations of the House and Senate. So fertile are their ideas that they have bankrupted the country, and will do so for generations to come. Obama comes out of his cave to hold yet another press conference in which a lot of words are spoke, but nothing of substance is conveyed, and finishes with a de rigeur 'we have to get the deficit under control' -- and then goes back to hide in the White House, leaving Harry and Nancy to spend money like drunken sailors. If Barack Obama wants to be seen as Presidential, then Barack Obama had better wield his veto pen. Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid run this government -- Not Barack Obama. They are setting policy, while Barack Obama takes trips to nowhere, and holds endless meetings in which no decision on any subject is ever made, but a lot of really cool pictures get taken.

There's a lot to be Thankful for this week, as Americans, born in the greatest country in the solar system. There's an awful lot more to be worried about; we've elected a ruling class that is completely detached from the experiences of everyday people, and has no sense of propriety, proportion or personal responsibility. They show it more and more every day. When you sit down to give thanks for your turkey (perhaps your last one for a while given the state of the economy?), ask the Almighty to inflict a couple of strategically-placed strokes, perhaps a brain hemorrhage or two this holiday weekend, as the nation may not be able to wait until 2010 to start voting these assholes out of office.

A Message for the So-Called Feminists...

Either you stand for the rights and dignity of all women, or you stand for none.

Serial-rapist (allegedly) Bill Clinton was defended against his accusers with a near-menstrual fury, but a woman (and her daughters) can be savaged in the media, almost daily, and nary a word is said int heir defense by their sisters because they actually believe (and live) the opposite of what Bill Clinton and Gloria Steinham merely profess.

In true Saul Alinsky fashion, I accuse the feminists of being incapable of living up to their own beliefs. Their ideology trips all over their dogma. You should defend this woman, raise the hue and cry, wave the colors, because she is one of you. In fact, she's more 'one of you' than most of you are. She actually has lived, and achieved, what you all preach is the ideal.

But because she doesn't to hold your insane and self-destructive ideology, she doesn't attend the same smart cocktail parties you do, she didn't attend the 'right' schools, because she had the temerity to actually give birth (and five times? Is she crazy?), refusing to murder her 'diseased and burdensome' child, to have a career AND a family, to marry that which according to you doesn't exist -- a supportive husband, because she doesn't see a rapist/abuser behind every tree and shrub and shriek in terror and demand federal funding and extra-constitutional rights for it, you ostracize her. You join the chorus of derision. Your own jealousies are evident. When one of you does speak your own salvos at the woman are even more petty and vicious than most (see: Naomi Wolff), and do greater harm to your cause than you obviously realize.

Only a feminist or a democrat (small 'f' and 'd' intentional) could be that blatantly hypocritical and still expect, nay, still demand, to be taken seriously.

Either you feminists should live up to your own ideals and come to the defense of Sister Sarah, or you should shut the fuck up about 'patriarchal oppression' and get back in the kitchen.

Failure to defend this woman spells the end of your empty philosophy and the death of your 'movement'.

Update: More stuff for 'feminists' to get up in arms about: earlier this week, a government-appointed 'Health Care' board 'suggested' that perhaps y'all are getting way too many mamographies, and today, they 'suggest' that maybe you're getting way too many pap smears, too. But don't worry; Harry Reid will somehow make certain that you can get a government-funded abortion.

First, it was gutting Medicare, possibly killing elderly women, and this week, it's about letting younger women who may be saved from the ravages of cancer with early detection die as a 'cost savings' which will be used to ensure that more women get killed, only this time, in the womb while they're still just an 'extraneous clump of cells'. You see what your so-called advocacy gets you when it's wedded to a selfish and ridiculous political ideology instead of logic?

President Douchebag and His Asswipe AG...

Well, if you had to knock the Health Care debacle out of the public eye, how would you do it?

If you're Barack Obama, first you leave the country, get really far away -- like the other side of the International Date Line(once again bringing shame to the office of President of the United States by bowing to yet another foreign potentate) -- and then just to make really, really certain, you give the public something other than a monumental government power-grab to fear... you trot your race-baiting Attorney General out to announce that not only will terrorists be given civil trials with all the attendant rights attached to criminal defendants, but that they will be tried in the city most traumatized by a terrorist attack.

I was trying to think of words that described this tag-team stupidity by Obambi and his race-baiting AG, and I came up with Douchebag and Asswipe, but I wasn't certain I was using them correctly, like all the hip kids do these days. So, I looked them up at UrbanDictionary.com.

The words perfectly described what I think of these two men.

The Urabn Dictionary defines douchebag, thusly:

"Someone who has surpassed the levels of jerk and asshole, however not yet reached fucker or motherfucker. Not to be confuzed (sic) with a douche"

Just in case you weren't certain what a douche was, in the context of modern slang, it was defined as:

"a word to describe an individual who has shown themself to be very brainless in one way or another, thus comparing them to the cleansing product for vaginas."

Asswipe, I was suprised to learn, has multiple definitions. They are:

"1) a device that has been used to remove excrement from the anus. 2) a person who resembles in behavior, language or attitude a device used to remove excrement."

Which suits Mr. Holder to a tee. He is, indeed, cleaning up Obama's shit on this one.

And then I thought to myself, "Are these people really just THAT clueless and retarded, or did they spend years working at it?"

Well, that question was answered for me by two Congressmen who appeared on the O'Reilly Factor the other night. Anthony Weiner (Asshole-New York) and Joe Stupak (Dingelberry-Pennsylvania). Definitions:

Asshole: someone being arrogant, rude, obnoxious, or just a total dickhead, and Dingleberry: A delinquent partial turd which grasps anal shrubery causing brownish crust to accumulate in ones boxers.

And yes, I've decided they obviously DO work at it.

Stupak not only supports this stupendously absurd decision by the so-called Obama Administration, he even wrapped himself in the flag with his anus-puckering, self-serving, petulent refrain of "I didn't wear this country's uniform and defend the Constitution to see anyone, even a confessed terrorist, denied the due process of law.." routine.

When you see this guy, and then recall General Casey's fervent hope that the Fort Hood Massacre doesn't put an end to the Army's diversity efforts, you start to wonder why they let people with the brain power of the common cockroach into our military acadamies. Just because you wore the uniform, it doesn't make you a fucking saint beyond all criticism vis-a-vis your intelligence, Congressman Stupak...just ask General Petreus.

Weiner (and was a man ever more aptly named?) went through numerous iterations of (paraphrasing) "It doesn't matter, they will be convicted. The American Justice system will be shown to be the best in the world...and can you stop whining about it and stop criticizing our President?"

Well, Congressman, if it doesn't matter, if, as you say, a conviction is a foregone conclusion, then why a) have the fucking trials, and b) bring these scumbags to New York to rub salt in everyone's wounds? Unfortunately, Bill didn't ask that obvious question, and shame on him for missing it.

But just what do they think they're going to accomplish with this stunt? It can't be just to get people to cease talking about Health Care, could it? No, it can't be. But I think I've figured it all out.

See, Obambi knows he wil lose on Health Care, and all his good little left-wing fascists will be mighty upset with him, what after punting on Gay Marriage, and so he has to give them something to really get their juices flowing and angry at someone else, so...

George W. Bush and Dick Cheney finally get put on trial, albeit vicariously.

Because you just know that's what this trial is all about. How GWB trampled civil liberties, and how these poor, misguiided, misunderstood, otherwise-peaceful Muslims were so badly treated, waterboarded, subjected to cold cells (In Cuba?) and loud rock music, and finally they just confessed to whatever was put in front of them. Why, even if they're guilty as hell that's just so...unfair...and stuff, to your average hippie holdover.

And now, five terrorists, five murderers, are going to get what they've always wanted: a public forum, with all the cameras in the world watching, from which they can once again belittle, insult, and confound the Great Satan, explaining to their shit-eating brethren in the Middle East just what they gave up, who they gave up, and how it was pried from them. They get to put the process on trial. They get to expose sensitive intelligence and methods in public. They gain both heroism martyrdom on the cheap -- and with the full encouragement of the President of the United States -- before they get their lethal injection.

God help both Holder or Obama if one of these guys walks. All it takes is one judge who's even dumber and more politically-motivated than they are, and in New York City, they ain't that hard to find. It will never be mentioned that these guys were not members of a standing army, nor members of legally-constituted militia, that they were not arrested in Cincinatti, but on the battlefields of Afghanistan and Iraq, that they aren't entitles to a POW's rights under the Geneva Convention, nor do the civilian standards of evidence apply to them because of the circumstances of their crimes and capture.

"There is no CSI Khandahar...", as one astute flapping rectum put it on TV this weekend.

If you ever needed a clearer demonstration of just how ridiculously out-of-touch our so-called leaders are, you couldn't ask for a better example. These people are ape-shit crazy, and I for the first time, I'm NOT talking about the terrorists.

How to Win the Goddamned White House Again...

Note to republicans; if you really want to win back the Congress in 2010, and then have a realistic view towards gaining the Presidency once more, here's a list of four things I think you'd better get cracking on. Push these four items, and then accomplish them, and you'll be golden for many years to come.

1) Restore the free enterprise system. I want the government out of our corporate boardrooms. No more pay czars, no more bureaucrats telling American industry what they should be making and how to make it. No more government assistance to the unions dressed up as a 'bail out of the automotive industry'. No more government interference in the banking and finance industries. The funds disbursed under TARP are to be recovered by a certain date, and all government operations related to it are to cease as soon as every last penny is recovered. Government, will, however, will still continue to make every effort to enforce all regulations required by current law.

2) I want a fair tax code, stripped of loopholes, exceptions and extraordinary provisions, so that the average 8th grader should be able to fill in a one-page tax form without aid of a calculator. I want tax rates that are fair and equitable across the board, with a top rate of no more than 25%, regardless of income. I want the suspension of the Capital Gains Tax for a period of two years in order to spur economic growth, and then a serious discussion about whether it's necessary to continue to collect it. I want Income Tax Holiday months, where the government can specify that three months of every calendar year, for the next four years, no personal income taxes will be collected from any citizen as an economic stimulus measure. I want economics taken out of the realm of Congress (where they don't understand it), and given back to the People who often exercise far more wisdom on how and where to spend money than any Congresscritter ever did.

3) I want a balanced budget every year. Not balanced in the 'out-years'. Not balanced by accounting tricks and one-off financing solutions, Not balanced by Congressional borrowing, but balanced before it gets to the President's desk for his signature. I want a Constitutional Amendment that requires Congress to submit balanced budgets, with serious penalties attributed to each member for every day no such document is agreed upon.

4) I want government spending reduced by 20% over the next three years, and not just an arrest of the current rate of growth of federal spending, I mean a real 20% cut from current levels spread over three years. I want to hear that some government agencies which no longer serve a useful purpose or whose utility is questionable (like the Department of Education, or the Post Office) are closing down -- going out of business like our banks and and many small businesses. Let the government sector feel the sting of layoffs and cutbacks, and have to deal with the unemployment lines and job retraining this entails.I want the money saved pumped back into the Social Security Trust Fund, or other public debt, and then I want another Constitutional Amendment that says that Congress cannot borrow another goddamned dollar without there being a true national emergency ...beyond the Rainbow Coalition not getting their democratic party bribe check this month.

Do these things and you'll truly revolutionize American government. Don;t do 'em, and you'll doom us to another four years of Barack Hussein Obambi, and an existence limited to collecting rainwater and grubs.

An Unapologetic Non-Apology...

Boy, ask why there are any Muslims left alive and people get testy! For anyone who hasn't read it, it was yesterday's post that kicked up a crapstorm of three nasty e-mails. This, incidentally, is greater than the number of Senate democrats who will eventually vote for Nancy Pelosi's death panel bill.

No, I won't apologize for thinking out loud what so many think privately. Why are we bending over backwards to protect the sensibilities of a bunch of animals who don't care about ours, oh, and who murder our citizens in the name of their phony-baloney system-of-mind-control-disguised-as-a-religion?

I'm sick and tired of hearing an argument that begins "You know, not ALL Muslims are terrorists..." or "there ARE 'Moderate Muslims'...", but you know, I never see any of those. All of the Muslims of my acquaintance have been arrogant, underhanded, and they all smell. I've known a few who were certainly not very pious at all, and just like alcoholics 'find Jesus' after some great tragedy, it seems to me that many 'westernized' jihadists only find Allah after they've been disappointed in some way -- like when the blond girls won't go out with them. Big deal: I've never had an Arab chick, but you don't see me praying and buying fertilizer and diesel fuel, do you?

They're full of shit. It's all "I'm a victim this..." and "I'm a victim that...". If it isn't the 'legacy of colonialism' it's how the 'West hasn't recognized the achievements of Muslim culture...', which, so far as I'm concerned, are limited to the burqa, the explosive belt and syphilis (from all that goat shtupping, you know).

So, to clarify what I really mean when I say "why are there any Muslims left alive".

I mean, why are there any left alive? And if we have to leave them alive, why do they still have the temerity to think we care about what they have to say? Why aren't they walking about meekly, stung by the embarrassment of a) being Muslim, b) having their culture utterly exposed for the sham that it is, and c) scared shitless that someone may notice them and give them a dirty look, at the very least. I want them cowed. I want them lain so utterly low so as to ensure that nothing is ever heard from them again. I want a state of affairs where they are so afraid of the United States, and the West, that they dare not ever raise their voices against us, let alone launch an attack.

I want an Israel that is unfettered by American diplomacy so that the next time the Palestinians launch rockets and walk into pizzerias with explosive belts, that the IDF is free to push them the hell off the continent, let alone out of the West Bank or Gaza. I want that Iranian nuke nipped in he bud, and the country flattened so that they'll never be able to try that stunt again. I want Afghanistan napalmed...and then sown with salt. I want the Saudis and Pakistanis to respond to every request of ours with "Thank you, Sir, may I have another?". I want Osama Bin Laden shipped to New York City in irons and given over to the tender mercies of the citizenry... screw a trial. I want Gitmo moved 90 fathoms below water. I want to stop this ridiculous nonsense of political correctness where we can't identify threats to our safety and security and act accordingly without being accused of the basest of motivations by people who who haven't got the same sense God gave a slug.

If the 'other side' in this war-in-name-only is free to express their wishes on the death and subjugation of the Great Satan, I figure that gives me the right to do likewise. And while I'm certain there's a 'moderate' Muslim out there, somewhere, they have seen fit to remain silent out of cowardice, both physical and moral, unable to support the side of the angels without being a 'bad Muslim', and unable to curse the bad guys because of the threat of the fatwa. You're fence-sitting pansies, and next to useless in this sort of fight, so I might as well toss you on the funeral pyre of your culture, as well. About as useful as teats on a bull, for all the good you people do.

Hope that clears it all up.

Some Questions About the Fort Hood Shootings...

1) Why are there any Muslims left alive? I thought there was a War on Terror, or something. I thought Muslims were committed to killing us all and destroying our society and supplanting our culture (it says so in the Koran, you know), so why is there anyone walking around here speaking Arabic? Why is it that people can still see and experience Islamic culture, in all it's 7th century squalor, outside the confines of a museum? Is this actually a War, or is it simply a public relations campaign with guns? Yeah, I know; it's too difficult to actually kill that many people, and besides, the world is watching and whatever would they think? Actually, I don't give a damn what they think of us in Norway or Luxembourg -- this is a matter of life and death, and several thousand Americans have already died on the battlefield and in our streets.

(Note: I'm not advocating genocide, I'm asking the question in an exaggerated manner for effect. Spare me the hate mail).

2) Despite the outcry about there being 'good Muslims', Maj. Hasan's murders occurred in the same fortnight within which a Muslim father ran down and killed his own daughter for being 'too Western', a Muslim woman attempts to murder her husband in his sleep because 'he made her wear a miniskirt', and within the same month that another Muslim woman actually sued for separation from her parents because of her conversion and subsequent fear for her life. This is after another Muslim man beheads his wife, and several others kill their daughters for assimilating into the greater American culture. The same fundamental theme runs through all of these cases: this is a culture that refuses to modify it's own norms to conform to it's new host culture. It still believes that the solution to many of it's problems is in violence, and that violence is often sanctioned and required by it's faith. We have imported a vast crowd of people who hate us, don't want to be among us, refuse to assimilate with us, and in the end, feel totally justified in killing us when we refuse to kiss their asses. Ask them to leave, now, or we'll only see more of this sort of thing.

By all reports, Hasan was given everything by the United States (the Army even sent him to medical school), but he still regarded the murder his fellow soldiers as a religious duty. Allegedly.

3) If I hear one more asshole in the media try to advance this 'vicarious-PTSD theory' and use it as an excuse for Maj. Hasan, I will tear someones eyeballs out. It isn't a joke. I've suffered from PTSD (although certainly not anything like our troops serving overseas have) and I'm sick and tired of this aura of fear which surrounds it. People who suffer from PTSD are NOT crazy; in fact, they're probably some of the sanest individuals you'll ever meet. If they weren't sane, they wouldn't have been stressed to the point of illness by their experiences. Second, PTSD is NOT contagious. It's not Swine Flu, Herpes or Chicken Pox. You have to actually have been under extreme stress (usually a life and death stress) to develop it, and it's quite often easily controlled by therapy (it's never 'cured' because the experience remains for life).

I've encountered this sort of ignorance in my daily life and have been discriminated against for it on so many levels, I can't even begin to list them here. How we treat and regard people who have this disorder is a serious business (one which doesn't get as much attention as it should), and it's too important to be left as a threadbare defense for a murdering asshole who's prime motivation was his religion.

Yeah, I know none of this is politically correct, but I could care less. If I were a Muslim in the United States these days, I'd think very hard about whether or not I wanted to stay here. I'm not advocating anything, so no one do something stupid and assault someone or harass someone. But, there's a group of people out there who need to make a decision about whether they truly wish to be Americans.

Clinton-Bush Debate Cancelled...

Bill Clinton is a pussy!

Recently, there was a bunch of hype about a debate or some kind of moderated discussion event to be held in New York's Radio City Music Hall between William Jefferson Clinton and George Walker Bush. Tickets went on sale, I think, the day before yesterday, starting at something like a few thousand dollars for the good seats.

This would have been a classic. I would have loved to have seen the President who really fell asleep at the switch in the City of 9/11 have to face the President who finally did something (although nowhere near enough) about Osama Bin Laden.

Now comes word that Mr. Clinton is...ahem...pulling out...of the event, because the promoters apparently went overboard and advertised the thing in a way not to his liking. They have publicized this event as if someone is going to have to answer some questions, and in New York City, when you talk about these two it could only mean one thing; which one of you is more responsible for the death of 3,000 of our fellow citizens?

Clinton doesn't want to answer that question, because his record leading up to that disaster is already well-known; given the chance to capture or kill Bin Laden something like seven times, Clinton punted, and refused action. No need to kick that sleeping dog, is there, Billy-boy? Especially not when Hillary might want to run for President again, or maybe (God forbid!) Governor of New York, right?

So, you found a bullshit excuse to walk away from the deal.

You were a gutless piece of shit while you were in office, and you're even more so now.

GWB would have wiped the goddamned floor with you, you coward!

The New York Post has the sorry details here.

Never Forget...

The U.S.S. New York has arrived in New York Harbor this morning. This ship has some World Trade Center steel incorporated into it's construction, and will serve as both a fighting ship, and as a memorial to our fallen. The commissioning ceremony (the process by which the Navy officially accepts the ship into it's ranks) will be held noon, this Saturday, at her berth near the U.S.S. Intrepid Museum.

I'm going. I wouldn't miss this for the world. Neither should you, for a few reasons.

This ship symbolizes far more than just American might. It is a monument to our dead, killed by a cowardly enemy that refuses to stand in the field and fight like men, but instead sneaks about like thieves in the night. It's a monument to the indomitable spirit of the United States -- not Barack Obama and Nancy Pelosi's United States, the real United States. It was built with steel recovered from the ruins, by men and women who not only had a ship to build, but a city to rebuild.

Because, you see, the U.S.S. New York was built in a shipyard in Louisiana, New Orleans, to be exact, and was on the ways when Hurricane Katrina struck. The men and women who built this floating testimonial also had lives to rebuild. This ship is not only a memorial to the dead, but a memorial to the living who overcame hardships and put their noses to the grindstone, in what for many, seems to have been a labor of love.

She's a beauty, and she will serve this country well for the next 50 years. The enemies of all good and decent men should quake with fear when she shows up off their shores, because she means business. She means that the United States has come to supplant tyranny with freedom.

If you can, make an effort to go to that ceremony on Saturday.

Good Luck and Godspeed, LPD-21.

And Another Thing...

Re: Election Day in New York.

This whole Scozzafava mess opened my eyes to something. In this very space, I have implored Newt Gingrich to run for the office of President of the United States, praising him to the heavens all the way.

But you know what? Newt's insistence that Scozzafava was a 'reliable vote for Boehner' overrode her ideology (which is a Bloomberg-like, iron-fisted, yet supposedly-enlightened-nannyist liberalism) made it impossible to see just where the republican in her was. Okay, so she's pro-life, but the rest of it was pure crap: supporting gay marriage, in favor of Card Check legislation, and so forth. It appears that when Newt made his endorsement, he was either misled as to who Scozzafava is (hardly possible, given his intelligence), or was simply rubber-stamping someone the New York Republican Party (itself an organization akin to a circular firing squad)
considered 'republican enough where it counts'. It would appear the overriding qualification for that endorsement was who Socozzafava might have caucused (and voted) with, had she been elected. On what, exactly, her vote was reliably Boehner's, is still unexplained.

If Newt was THAT cynical that he would simply endorse someone who was flying under false colors for the sake of a vote or two, or in the name of 'Bigger-picture-Republicanism' at the expense of real principles, then he just lost a lot of my respect.

Someone has got some 'splainin' to do, methinks.

The State of Affairs in the State of Who Cares?

Today is Election Day in New York City. If you couldn't tell before, just look to your right and see the two days of Google Ad space that our Billionaire Burghermeister obnoxiously bought, and which I was unable to turn off.

I wish I could tell you all NOT to vote for Mike Bloomberg, I know I won't. In fact, since neither major candidate in this Mayoral Election is compelling, I rather doubt I'll vote at all today. Yeah, yeah, I know; I'm shirking my civic responsibility, and all that, but in this race between Der Fuhrer and The-Other-Guy-Whatsisname-Again? doesn't exactly make you excited at the prospect of pulling the lever for anyone.

There's Bloomberg, the man who decided he could change the law to become Dictator for Life, and whose major preoccupation while in office has been my personal behavior; what I eat, what I smoke, what I throw out, where I walk, and how I do it all, has been the purview of this self-appointed nanny in a three-piece-suit. If Micheal Bloomberg had spent half as much time doing something useful, like helping to get the World Trade Center site rebuilt quickly, or perhaps lowered some taxes, that would be a reason enough to say "hmm, perhaps I'll vote for this turd."

Instead, Bloomberg has spent eight years imposing his own narrow-minded standards of personal behavior upon other people, especially smokers and the overweight. Smokers and fat folks are an endangered species in New York City, and not because their habits might eventually kill them, but because Mike Bloomberg sees them as cash cows to be milked to finance his Upper East Side vision of Manhattan as a Yuppie Paradise. A pack of cigarettes in New York City now will run $9.60 in the Outer Boroughs (you can find the $10 price tag in Manhattan). By comparison, you could buy crack for about the same price, but fewer people would tsk-tsk with disapproval if you lit that up in public. No, in that case, the City will be ready to 'help' you with a range of over-priced and ineffective social services, which might even include plane fare and moving expenses to Paris or Tokyo, just so long as your filthy crack habit is not visible to the tourists and Mike's pantywaist, yuppie friends.

Unless you're a white, English-speaking male. Then there's no city services for you, should you need them...Unless you have AIDS.

Of course, there's that other little stunt he's pulled. Remember, when Rudy Giuliani suggested that in the aftermath of 9/11 that he be allowed to temporarily remain in office after his reign as Mayor ended to better deal with the post-9/11 recovery and clean up, and Bloomberg went ballistic, even going as far as to sue Giuliani for his insolence? Well, who do you think finagled his way into running for a third term, overturning the Term Limits laws the very voters he asking for support from implemented to protect ourselves from the likes of Bloomberg. The City Council, comprised mostly of democrats who serve no purpose at all, except to hold a Council Seat as a prelude to running for Mayor, were more than happy to oblige him. After all, who wants to be Mayor of New York City in a financial crisis, potentially ruining your career as a politician? Better to let the guy who actually wants that job keep it.

The Other Guy, Bill Thompson is even worse. This is the guy who ran the old Board of Education in to a mire of tax-dollar-sucking corruption. He absolutely exudes incompetence and stupidity from every pore, and you wonder just who that guy had to blow in order to become Comptroller in the first place. HIs only message has been "I'm not Mike Bloomberg", and he's done nothing but spout typical leftist boilerplate, albeit only slightly-lesb obviously than Bloomberg does. Bloomberg talks fiscal conservatism, behavorial Calvinism, and then governs like a typical New York City liberal who's on an allowance. It's like losing your freedoms...only on a budget.

That's your choice; bad and worse. It's symptomatic of the state of play in New York City and State. We're saddled with perhaps the worst leadership class in the history of mankind. Worse than Caligula. Worse than Nero. Francisco Franco would be a breath of fresh air. Look at every major office in New York State, and you can only come to the following conclusions;

a) we're a state full of retards who vote for even bigger retards.
b) We don't give a shit.

*My apologies to retards; It was unfair to compare you to Governor Patterson or Senator Schumer.

And considering the apathy I feel about our Mayoral election today, it's probably a mixture of both. Unfortunately, in the race between bad and worse, apathy is pretty much a vote for the status quo-ante. And that makes me very angry.
